When Is And Just Like That… Season 3 Releasing?

And Just Like That… season 3 is returning on May 29, 2025, according to an official trailer for the show that dropped on April 15.

And Just Like That… season 3 was confirmed ahead of the season 2 finale in August 2023.

Showrunner Michael Patrick King previously hinted that the show would have a summer release during a February appearance on Kristin Davis’ podcast, Are You a Charlotte?, saying that the new season “feels like a summer show.” He said. “It’s coming out in the summer, it feels like the summer. It feels like the darkness that we had deliberately, by design, put in Season 1 of And Just Like That has given way to the light and the emotions that people are needing or looking to right now.”

Who Is Returning for And Just Like That… Season 3?

Now that logistics are out of the way, let’s dig in to what to expect from the season. Most of the main cast of the show, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker and John Corbett, are all set to return.

Also confirmed for this season are Rosemarie DeWitt making a return as Aidan’s ex-wife, Kathy, as well as Sebastiano Pigazzi and Dolly Wells making their return as Giuseppe and Joy, the potential love interests for Anthony and Miranda, respectively.

This season will have some newcomers too. On May 1, comedian and actress Rosie O’Donnell announced she was joining the show. “Here comes mary #andjustlikethat @hbo,” she captioned the post on Instagram, per The Hollywood Reporter. At the time, she shared a picture of the script for an episode titled “Outlook Good.” Her character will be named Mary.

Another new face this season will be Patti LuPone, who King confirmed to “have a story arc” this season to Entertainment Weekly.

At the time, he also confirmed that Cheri Oteri, Mehcad Brooks, Jonathan Cake, Logan Marshall-Green and Kristen Schaal would also be joining the show.

Who Left the Show?

While the list above shows a stacked cast for season 3, two notable characters won’t be returning. Sara Ramírez, who played Chez Diaz on seasons 1 and 2 of the show, and Karen Pittman, who played Professor Nya Wallace, won’t be in season 3.

In January, fans picked up clues of Ramírez’s exit after they posted a lengthy post on their Instagram Story claiming “casting directors and agents are making black lists of actors and workers who post anything in support of Palestinians and Gaza to ensure they will not work again.”

At the time, a Max insider discredited Ramírez’s allegations, noting to the U.K. outlet that their role had been “on the chopping block since last season” because “annoying” Che “held no value anymore” once their character split with Miranda.

“Sara was not fired because they support Palestine and the cease-fire,” the source said. “Sara was fired because Che brought nothing to the show anymore. The storyline as a struggling comedian was a waste of airtime and Sara knew it.” Ouch!

Pittman, on the other hand, wasn’t fired from the show but decided to leave instead. The news was confirmed to Variety in March.

“It has been a joy to have Karen Pittman play the smart and stunning Professor Nya Wallace on the first two seasons of And Just Like That,” a spokesperson for the streaming platform said in a statement to the outlet. “As we have thoroughly enjoyed working with this dynamic actress, so too have others. Due to her commitments to two other streamer series, it has become apparent that filming three shows at once isn’t possible.”

According to Variety, Pittman’s time is being shared with Apple TV for The Morning Show and Netflix in the adaptation of Judy Blume’s novel Forever.

“Due to the production realities, we are disappointed to announce that scheduling conflicts will not allow us to continue with this character as part of Season 3 of And Just Like That,” the statement said. “Karen and Nya will be missed, and her Max family and fans will all be cheering her on in her other endeavors.”

Will Kim Cattrall Return as Samantha?

As loyal SATC fans know all too well, Kim Cattrall made a one-scene return to the show in the season 2 finale. But, despite getting fans’ hopes up, Cattrall has already confirmed she won’t be returning for season 3.

In July 2024, Cattrall responded to the speculation that she was returning. “Aw that’s so kind but I’m not 💋,” she wrote.
