The Pioneer Woman’s Grilled Steak Skewers Are the Easiest Meal You’ll Make All Summer

For those hot nights during the summer when turning on the stove or oven feels unbearable, it’s nice to have a roster of grill-friendly recipes on hand. And this recipe from The Pioneer Woman (a.k.a. Ree Drummond) is not only grill-friendly, but it’s also so easy that after just a bit of prep, you can have dinner on the table in about 15 minutes. They’re her juicy and delicious steak skewers and they’re probably going to become your new go-to summer recipe this year.

Drummond likes to use ribeye and strip steak for her skewers, all cut into about one-inch cube sections. You want to make sure your steak pieces are roughly the same size so that everything cooks evenly.

“I don’t usually use two different kinds of meat on steak skewers, but I love this combo,” she said.

Load up your skewers, alternating between ribeye and strip cubes, and then put your skewers into a baking dish and crack some fresh black pepper over them. Next comes the marinade.

Drummond’s steak marinade consists of soy sauce, maple syrup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. All those ingredients get whisked in a separate bowl and then poured over the steak skewers in their baking dish. Make sure every piece of steak is coated with the marinade before placing plastic wrap over the dish and allowing it to sit in the fridge for at least an hour.

You can make the skewers in the morning, hit the beach, and then come back in the evening to have dinner in a snap!

Finally, it’s time to grill. Let the skewers cook for about eight to 10 minutes to get a perfect medium rare doneness, and then let them sit for at least five minutes before serving.

The hardest part about these skewers is figuring out what to serve with them. They would be so delicious served with a side salad or as a topping for a Caesar salad. But you could also have them with a side of rice and some grilled veggies.
