The young royal, who turned 10 last month, is expected to have a busy summer holiday after wrapping up her school year in the coming weeks. The first event on her agenda will be Trooping the Cloud on June 14, per Hello! Magazine. As mom, Kate has been protective over her three children, including sons Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, 7, so she only wants them to step into the spotlight when they are ready.

It’s why a palace insider described Charlotte to People as “a strong character” who is “almost wise beyond her years.” That calm presence that royal fans consistently witness is “truly her personality — it’s not forced,” per childrenswear designer Amaia Arrieta.

“She looks very confident and at ease with herself and the environment she’s in,” she told the media outlet. “The maturity that comes with that responsibility—she seems to nail it every time.”

It’s why tennis fans are likely to see Princess Charlotte back at Wimbledon in July with her older brother to support their mother’s royal patronage of the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Charlotte handled meeting Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz like a pro last summer, so it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary to see more moments like that this summer.

Her leadership skills were noticed early on with her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, pointing out that Charlotte had great confidence, even as a little girl.

“The queen has joked that at home, even at Buckingham Palace, Charlotte rules the roost. And I think that very much is the feeling amongst the Cambridges,” royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight in September 2019. “Prince George may be the eldest child, but I think it’s Charlotte who calls the shots and has everyone running rings around her.”

Still, William and Kate are making sure Charlotte and her siblings experience as normal a childhood as they can. That means there will be plenty of downtime at their country home at Anmer Hall in Norfolk, England, and the royal family retreat to Balmoral Castle in Scotland in August.

No matter what the summer of 2025 brings, Princess Charlotte appears to be ready.

Bindi Irwin Reveals the Unexpected Way Her Late Father's Adventurous Spirit Is Shared With Daughter Grace https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/1234888627/bindi-irwin-shares-late-fathers-spirit-with-daughter/ https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/1234888627/bindi-irwin-shares-late-fathers-spirit-with-daughter/#respond Fri, 06 Jun 2025 19:32:42 +0000 https://www.sheknows.com/?p=1234888627 Bindi Irwin honors her late father, Steve Irwin, by continuing his conservation legacy at the Australia Zoo. His spirit is also living on in an unexpected way — and daughter Grace Warrior, 4, is the beneficiary of that magic.

On the June 5 episode of the Not Gonna Lie With Kylie Kelcie podcast, Bindi shared how her younger brother Robert, 21, embodies the spirit of their dad and shares it with his niece.

“He is such a good uncle,” gushed the 26-year-old mom of one. “We actually call him a ‘funcle’ as well. As Grace has grown up, she just gets more and more excited to go on Uncle Robert adventures because, you know, he kind of like pushes the limits a little.”

“He does fun things and exciting things, and so she loves it,” she continued. “He’s so present with her which I love so much. When we were growing up as kids, me and Robert, it was very similar with Dad. He would do the same thing with us where he would pick us up and be like, ‘OK, we are going to hike up this mountain while we’re heading to the Simpson Desert to research fear snakes.’

As kids, Bindi and Robert would happily follow Steve, who was “such an adventurer” — a trait that she also sees in her brother.

“I see that he is so similar to dad and I’m really glad that Grace is gonna have that energy in her life like she would’ve had from dad,” she added. It’s truly a tissue-grabbing moment because Steve lives on through his only son.

Bindi and her husband, Chandler Powell, are raising Grace to know all about her late grandfather even though he passed in 2006 at the age of 44. They are both able to see flashes of the late conservationist in their daughter.

“I see so much of dad and our beautiful daughter Grace,” Bindi told E! News in May 2024. “She has so much fiery, passionate energy about her. She just is a determined woman, and she never stops moving… She thinks that it’s her job to make all the make sure all the animals are cared for. She is the kindest and most beautiful soul while also having this fiery energy that’s like dad and I love it. I love it so much.”

From the sounds of it, Grace is ready to run the Australian Zoo even as a preschooler, and that would make her grandfather proud.

Jessica Simpson Gets Emotional Over Lookalike Daughter Maxwell’s Major Milestone https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/1234888587/jessica-simpson-daughter-maxwell-graduation-photo/ https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/1234888587/jessica-simpson-daughter-maxwell-graduation-photo/#respond Fri, 06 Jun 2025 18:04:49 +0000 https://www.sheknows.com/?p=1234888587 Where did time go? Jessica Simpson’s eldest daughter Maxwell, 13, just celebrated a major milestone and mom is all in her feelings

Simpson celebrated Maxwell’s graduation from the sixth grade on June 3 with a sweet mother-daughter Instagram selfie. The golden light of the day shined bright on the twinning family members. Simpson looked radiant with her long, blonde locks gently framing her face while Maxwell adorably made a funny face.

“Let the good times roll into the 7th grade my beautiful Maxwell Drew 🎓✨💛,” wrote the proud mom in the caption.

Simpson, who shares Maxwell, son Ace, 11, and daughter Birdie, 6, with estranged husband Eric Johnson, often speaks about how motherhood shaped her adult life, especially when it comes to body image.

“Raising Maxwell makes me realize that I don’t want her to see me beat myself up for things like food choices or numbers on a scale,” she told People in 2013. “Those things don’t determine who we are and instead make us feel terrible about ourselves I want her to know her value, rather than spending her energy fighting negative voices from within.”

The 44-year-old singer praised her teen daughter for being “a leader, a doer, a protector, a light, a determined force, a lover of life, a goofball, a treasure, a creative, a care bear, a trusted wise old soul” in a May 11 Mother’s Day post. She continued, “Maxwell is indeed a drama free intuitive feelin’ empath. She is an inspiration to all who know her, follow her and confide in her.”

Simpson revealed that her mother, Tina, treated Maxwell to a Parisian trip in honor of her 13th birthday on May 1.

“3 generations 3 connected hearts 3 spirit-filled souls 3 women who smile, laugh, and shine brighter through it all ✨💛💛💛✨,” gushed the “I Wanna Love You Forever” singer. “It is official…I AM THE MOTHER OF A TEENAGER, and I LOVE IT.”

Maxwell is one lucky teen to have Simpson as a mom!

Why Malia Obama Quietly Dropped Her Last Name — And What Michelle Really Thinks About It https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/1234888580/michelle-obama-reaction-malia-obama-name-drop/ https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/1234888580/michelle-obama-reaction-malia-obama-name-drop/#respond Fri, 06 Jun 2025 17:26:57 +0000 https://www.sheknows.com/?p=1234888580 Michelle Obama knows that it’s not easy to be in the public eye. As the former First Lady of the United States, the scrutiny was real, and she empathizes with her daughter, Malia, 26, as she tries to forge her own path as a filmmaker.

Malia made her Sundance Film Festival debut in January with the short film, The Heart. While the movie was well-received, fans were curious about the notable name change: “Malia Ann.” Now, Michelle is breaking her silence on the June 2 episode of the Sibling Revelry podcast, hosted by Kate and Oliver Hudson.

With her usual sense of humor, Michelle told the celebrity brother and sister, “Malia, who started in film—I mean, her first project—she took off her last name. And we’re like, ‘They’re still gonna know it’s you, sweetie.’ But we get it.”

Mom understands that Malia and younger sister, Sasha, 23, want their “own identity” and “own life” that is separate from their parents’ White House careers.

“They are young adult women, but they definitely went through a period in their teen years where it was the push away … [where] you’re trying to distinguish yourself,” Michelle added.

She revealed that Malia and Sasha are “very sensitive” to the “nepo baby” label that is often branded on kids with very famous parents. She knows her children “want to be their own people” and “not mom and dad hooking them up.”

“I mean, it is very important for my kids to feel like they’ve earned what they are getting in the world, and they don’t want people to assume that they don’t work hard, that they’re just naturally, just handed things,” she confirmed.

Malia, who recently directed a Nike commercial starring WNBA star A’ja Wilson, received rave reviews from Donald Glover in March 2022 after she wrote for his Prime Video show, Swarm.

He described her as “an amazingly talented person” to Vanity Fair, noting that she is “really focused, and she’s working really hard.”

It remains to be seen whether Malia will continue to use her middle name for Hollywood, but Michelle knows that the Obama moniker carries a heavy weight in the spotlight.

Phaedra Parks' Teen Sons Have a Lot of Opinions on Her Next Boyfriend https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/videos/1234886614/phaedra-parks-sons-opinions-boyfriend/ https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/videos/1234886614/phaedra-parks-sons-opinions-boyfriend/#respond Fri, 06 Jun 2025 16:25:26 +0000 https://www.sheknows.com/?post_type=pmc_top_video&p=1234886614 Phaedra Parks‘ sons are vetting everyone she dates to make sure they meet very specific criteria.

In the video above, Real Housewives of Atlanta star participated in SheKnows’ Parents Tell All and dished all about life with her boys, 15-year-old Ayden and 12-year-old Dylan.

Parks has met her match with her “opinionated” boys who weigh in on all aspects of her life, particularly her youngest son, who she says inherited her “sharp tongue.”

“The hardest part of having a tween and a teenager is basically they’re so opinionated, they know everything, but absolutely know nothing,” she told us. “And so they’re always continuously challenging you or asking questions, and that’s these new age kids, because we didn’t do that when I was growing up.”

Parks, who split from her sons’ father, Apollo Nida, in 2017 after eight years of marriage, says her boys also don’t hesitate to speak their minds when it comes to who she dates.

“The oldest one is more interested in what the people look like,” she said. “The youngest is more interested in what their bank account looks like.”

“The youngest, he’s like, ‘What kind of car do they have? Do they have a plane? What can they do for us?’ The oldest is like, ‘Is he attractive? Does he have muscles?’ You know, like one wants Fabio, the other wants, I don’t know, Jeff Bezos.”

That said, Parks isn’t taking her sons’ opinions too seriously, telling Stylecaster in a May 25 interview that she’s feeling “free” since returning to RHOA single, eight years after fans last saw her on the show.

“Well, when you first saw me, I was married to a person who was very controlling,” Parks said. “Now, I’m free to be who I am, and I don’t have to consider my partner. I’m single, satisfied, and successful. I can do what I want, and I don’t have to worry about anyone else’s opinions.”

TikTok Banned #Skinnytok — But the Pressure on Teen Girls Just Rebranded https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/1234888279/tiktok-bans-skinnytok/ https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/1234888279/tiktok-bans-skinnytok/#respond Thu, 05 Jun 2025 19:59:03 +0000 https://www.sheknows.com/?p=1234888279 TikTok just made a move aimed to help protect teen girls’ mental health — but it feels like too little, too late. The social media app announced that they banned the hashtag “SkinnyTok” from being searched worldwide after pressure from European policymakers.

What Is SkinnyTok?

According to Politico, the TikTok ban happened because of the popularity of “SkinnyTok,” with young women promoting extreme diets and weight loss tips. “[We] have blocked search results for #skinnytok since it has become linked to unhealthy weight loss content,” TikTok spokesperson Paolo Ganino said in a statement Monday.

SheKnows Teen Council Member Juliet wrote an essay about how SkinnyTok has had an influence on her and her friends. Like ahead of prom, when a friend told her she was “prepping” by running daily and eating only a protein bar and small dinner.

“I asked her how she got this idea, and she showed me a video on SkinnyTok,” Juliet wrote. “After watching the video that inspired my friend, I was hooked on this account. I scrolled through for an hour, looking at all this woman’s tips and tricks. And when I got up to look in the mirror afterwards, I was about twenty pounds heavier than I was twenty minutes earlier — or at least, that’s how it felt.”

It’s great that TikTok is making a move to discourage this behavior, but it’s not enough.

Diet Culture

As a survivor of the early 2000s-diet culture, I am intimately familiar with the harm an obsession with weight can do to teen and tween girls. We’ve had a run of body positivity that was encouraging for a time in the late 2010s, but it seems like society has made a full 360 turn back to promoting skinniness above all else.

This has been pushed largely by the popularity of GLP-1 medications like Ozempic that is being touted by celebrities — Megan Trainor even changed the lyrics of her positive “All About That Bass” lyrics change now that she more closely resembles the “stick-figure, silicone Barbie doll” standard that she once spoke out against. But outside of the celebrity world, real teens (and even grown women) are promoting the skinny standard online, especially on video-sharing platforms like TikTok.

A 2024 study found that it takes just 8 minutes for young women to be negatively affected by eating disorder content on TikTok. Eight minutes!? I’m shocked, but I’m not surprised. Seeing your friends and influencers talk about their obsessive health routines, the “toxic” foods they cut out from their lives, and the importance of fasting or doing extreme exercise routines — it’s hard to ignore that or not compare yourself to those impossible standards.

“Diet culture is a multi-billion dollar industry,” Sammi Farber, a psychotherapist, coach, and TikToker who specializes in helping clients recover from eating disorders, previously told SheKnows. “Children, young adults, and teens don’t realize that what they’re watching is quite literally brainwashing them in a matter of seconds.”

Now What?

Search “SkinnyTok” now, and you’ll be directed to resources like the National Alliance for Eating Disorders, per Teen Vogue. But something else will surely take its place, like when “suicide” was banned from searches, so people started writing and searched “unalived” instead.

What we need is a larger cultural shift away from “skinny is the golden standard” mindset. We need more diverse body representation, a bigger push on body acceptance, and conversations that call out harmful advice or ideas in the name of “health” or “wellness.” No, it’s not OK to drink coffee all day instead of eating. It’s not healthy or cute to starve yourself, and it definitely shouldn’t be normalized.

One 2024 study found that individuals with eating disorders were pushed an astonishing 4343% more toxic disordered eating videos than others, including 335% more dieting videos and 142% more exercise videos. Even though SkinnyTok is no longer allowed, the mindset behind it is, so it’s only a matter of time before a new trend takes its place. It’s like a game of whack-a-mole; as soon as you squash one thing, another pops up.

TikTokers are posting health or fitness “inspo” that basically glamorizes disordered eating. Like when they post about everything they eat in a day, or when they asked followers to share “their most unhinged diet tips” that include harmful behavior and tips on eating less to achieve a certain look. (I saw one that recommended you eat all your meals in a bikini to motivate you to eat less.) It’s scary. I’m not nearly as impressionable as a teen, but even I am susceptible to obsessing over the way my body looks and feeling shamed for eating whatever food is deemed unhealthy this week after being on TikTok.

It’s important for parents to talk to their teens and tween about body positivity, the dangers of eating disorders, and learning how to recognize (and call out!) toxic dieting trends. If you or someone you know is struggling with an eating disorder, call the National Alliance for Eating Disorders confidential helpline at 866-662-1235.

These celebrity parents are raising strong, resilient daughters.

Neil Patrick Harris, Mel B, Drew Barrymore, & Other LGBTQ Celebrity Parents We Love https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/slideshow/2272854/lgbtq-celebrity-parents/ https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/slideshow/2272854/lgbtq-celebrity-parents/#respond Thu, 05 Jun 2025 14:27:46 +0000 https://www.sheknows.com/?post_type=pmc-gallery&p=2272854 Historically, it has been very difficult for many members of the LGBTQIA+ community to have children, from facing legal discrimination in the adoption and fostering process to stigma on the playground. That’s why we’re grateful and happy to see so many celebrities who identify as gay, fluid, pansexual, asexual, intersex, genderqueer, and nonbinary, start their families in any way they choose.

From adoptive parents to couples who welcomed children via surrogate, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite Hollywood parents who have spoken openly about their sexual identities — to their fans and their kids — and been roll models to so many.

White Collar star Matt Bomer, who is married to publicist husband Simon Halls, joked that one of their sons once “came out to us as straight.” And Westworld actress Rachel Evan Wood shared what happened when she once asked her son if he would feel comfortable if she dated a woman, “He was like, ‘I think that would be amazing. That would be so cool!'” she told Self.

So let’s take a moment to celebrate all the queer parents in the spotlight who are living their truest lives and paving the way for future generations. (Oh, and we’re also pretty obsessed with the celeb parents who are so supportive of their LGBTQ+ kids too!)

Bindi Irwin’s Daughter Grace Was in Full Princess Mode at the Happiest Place on Earth https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/1234887716/bindi-irwin-daughter-grace-princess-mode-disneyland/ https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/1234887716/bindi-irwin-daughter-grace-princess-mode-disneyland/#respond Wed, 04 Jun 2025 20:40:44 +0000 https://www.sheknows.com/?p=1234887716 Princess Grace has a nice ring to it, don’t you think? Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell’s 4-year-old daughter Grace Warrior seems to think so, as she is channeling her inner princess every chance she gets. The most recent time just happened to be at the Happiest Place on Earth!

The adorable toddler activated full princess mode during a visit to Disneyland earlier this month. In new photos shared by Bindi, Grace wore a stunning, floor-length Cinderella ballgown complete with a beaded blue necklace and a matching blue bucket hat. In a picture with her parents, Grace had her arms demurely down by her side as she admired her own dress. Bindi and Powell smiled behind her as they posed in front of Sleeping Beauty’s castle. It was truly an enchanting moment!

Other pictures in the carousel include a shot of Grace spraying her parents with her Ariel bubble wand as they smile in front of the Mickey Mouse rollercoaster at California Adventure; Grace raising her arms in an expression of pure joy on the Dumbo ride; and a selfie of the trio riding on the Jungle Cruise ride. On slide 7, Grace hugs Princess Tiana, smiling as the princess crouches down to reach her. It looks like a wonderful trip for this little princess.

Bindi, who included pictures of Grace at the airport, snuggling with Grace in a hospital bed, and other pictures with her mom Terri Irwin and brother Robert Irwin, wrote that May was a whirlwind month for her family. At one point, she had to have her appendix removed and they removed 14 more endometriosis lesions.

“I haven’t been sharing a lot here because May has been a truly enormous month, filled with highs and lows,” Bindi captioned the heartfelt post. “Here’s a small collection of those moments.”

“’I love you’” will never be enough for my family. ❤️” she added.

That’s such a beautiful sentiment! Her mom replied, “We are truly blessed.💕” Others weighed in on the sweet snaps too.

“The Grace Irwin-Princess Tiana embrace 💚✨,” one person commented. Someone else wrote, “Life is so precious. So good to see you on the road to recovery and smiling again. Enjoy creating special memories with your beautiful family 🤗”

“Oh my goodness, Cinderella Grace is so precious 😍” another person said.

The official Disney Parks account also shared a picture of the Irwins at Disneyland, but this one was just of siblings Bindi and Robert. “Of course when the Irwins visit @Disneyland, they go on Jungle Cruise 🐊⛴️,” they wrote.

Robert shared pictures from the trip as well, including one with his niece Grace, who is dressed in a floral print dress with high socks and a straw hat. She looks adorable as they go on a ride together, smiling and waving at the camera.

Saving animals one day, enjoying the wonder of Disney the next — the Irwins truly live a fairytale life.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Took Son Patrick Schwarzenegger Out of School for the Coolest Reason: ‘Don’t Tell Your Mother’ https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/1234887530/arnold-schwarzenegger-patrick-schwarzenegger-outing/ https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/1234887530/arnold-schwarzenegger-patrick-schwarzenegger-outing/#respond Wed, 04 Jun 2025 19:43:20 +0000 https://www.sheknows.com/?p=1234887530 Life’s too short for perfect attendance records. Just take it from Arnold Schwarzenegger. He revealed that he used to pull his son Patrick Schwarzenegger out of school for the coolest reason when he was younger, and it proves he is as cool in real life as he is on screen!

The father-son duo interviewed each other for Variety, where they chatted about some of their famous roles and what sparked Patrick’s love of acting. The younger Schwarzenegger shared that his The White Lotus co-star Aimee Lou Wood asked him when he became interested in acting, and he recalled going to a movie set with his dad.

“It was heaven for a kid, going to a movie set with your dad,” Patrick recalled. “You would pick me up and take me out of school early in your Hummer.”

Arnold remembered warning him to keep it from his mom, Maria Shriver. “I said, ‘Don’t tell your mother.’ Your mother was in charge of education.”

“You’d come pick me up early and you’d walk in as Dad, go into the trailer, come out as Mr. Freeze or the Terminator,” Patrick continued. “We would be in the trailer, and during your breaks, we could walk into craft services, get some Red Vines, and we would take the golf cart and go to the E.T. ride.”

Is that not the most amazing childhood memory? If you’ve ever felt bad for giving your kid a mental health day and pulling them out of school to do something fun, then don’t. Little moments like this can become core memories for kids, and we love that Patrick got to experience something like this with his dad.

Both of Patrick’s parents have been proud of him after his recent success playing the unlikeable character Saxon on the third season of HBO’s hit series. Ahead of the season premiere of The White Lotus, Shriver joked on Instgram that the title of her new poetry book I Am Maria should be changed to, “I Am Patrick’s Mother: My Reflections and Heartbreak in Not Knowing Whether He Lives or Dies on White Lotus. No One Will Tell Me!”

Around the same time, the journalist told PEOPLE about her son, “I think it’s a great moment for him, and I’m super happy for him. It actually makes me cry. I’m so happy for him.” There’s nothing better than supportive parents!

Olivia Munn Reveals She Had To Take a ‘Scary’ Risk in Order To Try for a Baby Girl https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/1234887472/olivia-munn-scary-risk-baby-girl/ https://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/1234887472/olivia-munn-scary-risk-baby-girl/#respond Wed, 04 Jun 2025 18:17:17 +0000 https://www.sheknows.com/?p=1234887472 Having another baby is always a big choice, but for Olivia Munn, it came with a medical risk as well. She just revealed that she wanted a baby girl so much that she had to take a “scary” risk to get her — and her husband John Mulaney was fully supportive.

In a cover interview with PEOPLE, the Your Friends & Neighbors star opened up about her decision to expand her family after going through a breast cancer diagnosis in April 2023 and having multiple surgeries. Because her aggressive breast cancer was influenced by hormones, she worried that pregnancy, or even egg retrieval, would increase her chance of a recurrence.

“What happens if I can’t carry?” Munn recalled thinking before welcoming daughter Méi, 8 months, via surrogate. “There were all these unknowns, but I knew where I wanted to go: alive on the other side, healthy, energetic, with a baby on the way.”

In between a double mastectomy and having her uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries removed, Munn had “a window” to do an egg retrieval to try for a baby via surrogate. “It was important to do it at that moment, but it was also scary because my type of cancer feeds on hormones, and there are a lot of hormone injections with IVF,” she told the outlet.

Regardless, she decided to go for it. Munn went through a special IVF protocol for cancer patients, and doctors were able to retrieve seven eggs. Two were “strong enough to be tested for abnormalities and the gender,” Munn explained. Still, she said she wanted a baby girl so badly that she was willing to go through it all again, despite the risk.

“I remember I was on a walk with John, and I said, ‘I really don’t think that I’ll be okay unless we get two girl embryos. I know this puts me at risk, but I just need you to support me,'” Munn, who also shares 3-year-old son Malcolm with Mulaney, recalled. “He said, ‘Whatever you need.’”

We love that Mulaney was super supportive of this move! Later that day, the doctors revealed that they had two healthy female embryos. “That was a sign for me everything was going to be okay,” Munn said.

Now, she is at peace. “I’m so grateful to be on the other side. Everything feels easy in a way,” the Hit-Monkey star added. “I feel so at peace. If I can stay happy and healthy, then I just want to sail into the rest of my life.”

In Oct. 2024, Munn shared a heartfelt post reflected on her life now. “This time last year I was recovering from my fourth surgery and now I’m hanging with my baby girl. 🥹💕,” Munn captioned a photo of her and her daughter.

Munn’s motherhood journey has been tougher than most so far, and we are so happy for her that she finally gets to heal and enjoy her wonderful babies. She’s a true testament to the strength of moms!
