Arnold Schwarzenegger Took Son Patrick Schwarzenegger Out of School for the Coolest Reason: ‘Don’t Tell Your Mother’

Life’s too short for perfect attendance records. Just take it from Arnold Schwarzenegger. He revealed that he used to pull his son Patrick Schwarzenegger out of school for the coolest reason when he was younger, and it proves he is as cool in real life as he is on screen!

The father-son duo interviewed each other for Variety, where they chatted about some of their famous roles and what sparked Patrick’s love of acting. The younger Schwarzenegger shared that his The White Lotus co-star Aimee Lou Wood asked him when he became interested in acting, and he recalled going to a movie set with his dad.

“It was heaven for a kid, going to a movie set with your dad,” Patrick recalled. “You would pick me up and take me out of school early in your Hummer.”

Arnold remembered warning him to keep it from his mom, Maria Shriver. “I said, ‘Don’t tell your mother.’ Your mother was in charge of education.”

“You’d come pick me up early and you’d walk in as Dad, go into the trailer, come out as Mr. Freeze or the Terminator,” Patrick continued. “We would be in the trailer, and during your breaks, we could walk into craft services, get some Red Vines, and we would take the golf cart and go to the E.T. ride.”

Is that not the most amazing childhood memory? If you’ve ever felt bad for giving your kid a mental health day and pulling them out of school to do something fun, then don’t. Little moments like this can become core memories for kids, and we love that Patrick got to experience something like this with his dad.

Both of Patrick’s parents have been proud of him after his recent success playing the unlikeable character Saxon on the third season of HBO’s hit series. Ahead of the season premiere of The White Lotus, Shriver joked on Instgram that the title of her new poetry book I Am Maria should be changed to, “I Am Patrick’s Mother: My Reflections and Heartbreak in Not Knowing Whether He Lives or Dies on White Lotus. No One Will Tell Me!”

Around the same time, the journalist told PEOPLE about her son, “I think it’s a great moment for him, and I’m super happy for him. It actually makes me cry. I’m so happy for him.” There’s nothing better than supportive parents!
