Whether you’re planning a family trip to Disneyland or are a passholder looking for some Disney merch finds to add to your collection of theme park clothes, Disney Influencers are an excellent source of inspiration. I am personally obsessed with watching Disney style content on TikTok and Instagram (some of my favorites include Megan Heneghan, aka The Magical Millennial, on TikTok and Instagram, and Sarah Sotoodeh, aka The Lifestyle Reporter, on Instagram and YouTube).
As a Magic Key holder myself, I am constantly wondering what to wear to Disneyland and subsequently shopping online for Disney merch. Disneyland and Disney World weather forecasts are very different, too, so having some insider tips can make a difference when planning Disney outfits.

Dressing for a day at Disneyland is easier than ever, thanks to the athleisure trends that mean things like oversized t-shirts, bike shorts, and chunky running shoes are comfy and stylish. “I love knowing that I am going to be comfortable all day, but also need to be ready for photos and videos when the time comes,” says Heneghan. “You don’t have to sacrifice comfort for cuteness anymore at the parks, which I love about the new trends.”
What Is the Weather Like at Disneyland?
These athleisure styles are also a fantastic match for Disneyland weather, which can vary a lot no matter what the season is. If you’re headed to Southern California in the summer, Heneghan says to pack for the dry heat—think tank tops, light t-shirts, shorts, skirts, and hats—but also bring a jacket because the temperature can drop significantly at night. “Our heat does not last once the sun goes down, so a jacket is typically needed past 8 p.m., especially on days when you go on water rides,” she notes.
Disney Outfit Ideas
Disneyland and California Adventure weather is very unpredictable, so layers are essential, even in the summertime. “You may not need more than a light jacket, but make sure it’s something you can stash in a bag [or locker],” says David Vaughn, a Disney expert who specializes in Disneyland tips and theme park travel. “The Paint the Night parade is a must-see at Disneyland Park, and you don’t want to leave early just because you’re shivering.”
In addition to a lightweight jacket, Vaughn also recommends dressing on-theme for the parks and says you can’t go wrong with a Disney, Pixar, or Star Wars tee. For extra-hot days, Heneghan recommends tennis dresses and skorts for sweat-proof style.
I frequent the parks several times a month—and grew up visiting a ton since my parents both work for the company—and have established quite the wardrobe of Mickey-approved outfits as well. Here are some of my go-to Disney outfit ideas, plus some of Heneghan and Vaughn’s favorites for a trip to Disneyland.
What to Wear to Disneyland: T-Shirts
Disney Pixar Pizza Planet Shirt
This Disney influencer-approved Pixar Pizza Planet Shirt is an easy way to dress on theme. The shirt is designed from 100% cotton, so it’s comfortable, lightweight, and breathable, making it a fantastic choice for sweltering hot summer days, too.
Disney Mickey Mouse Short Sleeve Graphic T-Shirt
Target has tons of stylish Disney merch, including the Mickey Mouse Short Sleeve Graphic T-Shirt. This shirt is available in men’s sizing, but it’s a great unisex option, especially if you’re looking for something a bit more oversized to wear with bike shorts and chunky sneakers in the Disneyland heat.
Zara Mickey Mouse Disney T-Shirt
If you love the look of a vintage Disney t-shirt but don’t want to pay the high price often associated with good vintage Disney finds, this Zara Mickey Mouse T-Shirt is an excellent alternative. It features a classic Mickey design with contrasting trim, giving it more of a varsity feel.
What to Wear to Disneyland: Bottoms
PopFlex Purouette Skort
Heneghan loves her PopFlex Purouette Skort for the parks, and I don’t blame her—it’s seriously so cute. This skort has tennis skirt vibes but with more of a balletcore tulle texture that looks stylish with sneakers and a Disney graphic tee.
Aritzia BUTTER Cheeky Hi-Rise 5″ Short
I’ve visited Disneyland on some of the hottest days of the year, and I don’t think I would have survived without the proper outfit. My Aritzia BUTTER Cheeky Hi-Rise 5″ Shorts are a heatwave and theme park go-to because they’re so buttery soft (hence the name) and comfortable for wearing all day long. They also look great with an oversized t-shirt during the day and a classic Disney crewneck at night for an extra layer. Add some ears and sneakers to the look, and you’re good to go.
Hot Topic Disney Pluto Key Chain Denim Shorts With Belt
Vintage Disney style is super trendy at the parks right now, and as much as I love digging through thrift stores to find treasures, I’m also all about shopping for newer pieces with that vintage feel. With their dad short style and classic Pluto graphic, the Hot Topic Disney Pluto Key Chain Denim Shorts With Belt feel like a vintage find.
Halara Softlyzero™ Easy Peezy Dress
Heneghan also swears by the Halara Softlyzero™ Easy Peezy Dress for a Disney day, and, to be honest, after I saw her post about it on social media, I grabbed one for myself. The athletic dress has built-in shorts that you can easily slip in and out of without having to completely undress, which I so appreciate. It also fits well and is particularly great for those with long torsos (hello, me!).
Just Black Denim The Cropped Demi Flare
I have The Cropped Demi Flare Jeans from Just Black Denim in leopard (pictured above) and have worn them several times to Disneyland. I love wearing them with a vintage-inspired Disney t-shirt from Junk Food and a denim jacket or utility shirt for a lightweight layer.
What to Wear to Disneyland: Sweatshirts & Jackets
BoxLunch Disney Pixar Cars Lightning McQueen Moto Racing Jacket
My BoxLunch Racing Jacket is one of the items I wear the most at the parks. I have a Mickey style that is currently sold out, but the BoxLunch Disney Pixar Cars Lightning McQueen Moto Racing Jacket is super similar and on my wishlist as an alternative. I love that it’s oversized so I can wear it over a sweatshirt on chilly days, but it’s also warm enough to keep me nice and cozy when the temperature drops nearly 30 degrees during the warmer months.
Frog Princess Coquette Side Bow Sweatshirt
Etsy has so many Disney merch finds, and the Frog Princess Coquette Side Bow Sweatshirt is my current obsession. I love the side bow and Tiana logo in the front. It’s also available in lots of other characters, like Ariel, Cinderella, Mulan, and Snow White.
Gap × Disney Minnie Mouse Oversized Gap Logo Sweatshirt
Add a retro look to your Disney Parks look with this adorable Gap × Disney Minnie Mouse Oversized Gap Logo Sweatshirt. The sweatshirt comes in several colors, including a trendy butter yellow. Since it’s a classic crewneck, it’s super versatile and can easily be tied around your waist when the sun comes out, and thrown on over a t-shirt when it gets chilly.
What to Wear to Disneyland: Bags & Backpacks
Vera Bradley Disney Springbrook Sling Crossbody
ICYMI: Vera Bradley has a Disney collection, and it’s so good. The Springbrook Sling Crossbody is one of my favorites from the collection because it features a custom Mickey-inspired Vera Bradley print with adorable Mickey motifs stitched onto the front. Plus, it has a functional crescent shape and crossbody style that makes it easy to access all of your park day essentials.
BAGGU Medium Nylon Crescent Bag
I live in my BAGGU Medium Nylon Crescent Bag—and always bring it to Disney with me—so I wasn’t surprised when Heneghan told me this bag is also her go-to for the Disney Parks. You can fit everything, and I mean everything, in this bag. Plus, it’s comfortable for long wear and looks so cute with any Disneyland outfit.
Stoney Clover Lane Classic Noir Backpack with Large Mickey & Minnie Patch
Stoney Clover Lane is in her Disney era, and I am here for it. All of the Disney influencers I follow on social media love everything Stoney Clover and are always highlighting all of the cool customization available. For something timeless (and super functional), I love the Classic Noir Backpack with Large Mickey & Minnie Patch. It’s spacious and goes with everything, plus you can add additional patches—or use it as a display for your Disney pins—for a more personalized touch.
What to Wear to Disneyland: Shoes
PUMA Mayze Classic Sneakers
I’ve walked a ton in my PUMA Mayze Classic Sneakers, and they’re not only comfortable but also look so good with most Disneyland outfits. You can wear these with bike shorts and an oversized tee on a hot summer day or with baggy jeans and a Disney crewneck sweatshirt when it’s overcast. They also go well with tennis dresses, skorts, and other athleisure pieces.
HOKA Bondi 9 Sneakers
The HOKA Bondi 9 Sneakers are the most comfortable walking sneakers ever, making them a Disney Parks essential. These sporty sneakers have tons of cushion and support, so you can literally walk and stand in line for hours and hours in them without aches and pains.
REEF Cross-Shore Sandals
If you’re headed to Disneyland during the summer (or a heatwave) and need a pair of comfortable sandals for Disney, the REEF Cross-Shore Sandals are it. These sandals feel like you’re walking on clouds and have adjustable foot straps around the top of the foot and ankle for a comfortable, supportive fit.
What to Wear to Disneyland: Accessories
BoxLunch Disney Mickey Mouse Figural Knit Bucket Hat
It’s not a trip to Disneyland without some ears, and I am obsessed with the BoxLunch Disney Mickey Mouse Figural Knit Bucket Hat for a trendy knit spin on the classic Disney accessory. I crocheted a pair of Minnie Mouse ears for myself (using the Woven Tales Designs Ever After Ears pattern), and these give that similar stitched look.
BaubleBar Disney Minnie Mouse Custom Ears Headband
For a pair of Minnie ears that feel extra special, order the BaubleBar Disney Minnie Mouse Custom Ears Headband ahead of your Disney trip. BaubleBar Minnie ears are excellent quality (they’re honestly better than the ones you’ll buy at the parks), and these ones allow you to personalize them with your name.
Mouse Hair Clip
If you’re not into ears but want to wear something festive in your hair, this Mouse Hair Clip is another cute accessory for Disneyland. The claw clip features a classic Mickey Mouse hat shape and comes in several colors, including black and red for that iconic Disney look.
Nike Mickey Mouse Baseball Cap
A version of this Nike Mickey Mouse Baseball Cap has been in my wardrobe for a long time, and it’s one of my go-tos for the parks. I love that it has a more subtle Disney design and is constructed from a sweat-wicking material, which makes it essential for those ultra-hot summer days.
ASOS 3-Pack Disney’s Mickey Mouse and Friends Socks
If you’re wearing shorts to Disneyland, on-theme socks are a fun way to accessorize your look. These ones from ASOS come in a pack of three for under $20 and feature the classic Mickey and Friends characters, including Mickey (of course), Donald, and Goofy.
Magical Designs by Kim Mouse Keychain Button Holder
Whether you’re visiting Disneyland for the first time or celebrating a birthday, a free Disney button is a must—and the Magical Designs by Kim Mouse Keychain Button Holder is a great way to display the keepsake on your backpack or crossbody without puncturing a hole in your bags.
Remi Roses Mickey Mouse Shaped Sunglasses
Sunglasses are a Disneyland essential—and these cute Mickey Mouse Shaped Sunglasses from Etsy are a stylish way to lean into the Mickey theme (and make you feel like a kid again). The shades come in four different colored frames and lens combinations, so you can choose a style that best fits your preferences and keeps your eyes from squinting in the summer sun.
