I was born and raised in Southern California and have visited the Disney Parks a few times a year since I was a baby. Now, as a Magic Key holder (and, admittedly, a Disney Adult), I currently go to Disneyland and California Adventure several times a month to experience my favorite attractions, eat my favorite park snacks, and get my steps in. When it comes to a full day at Disney Parks, the two most important things are comfortable shoes and plenty of sun protection. After years of trial and error, I have my shoe selections dialed, including a rotation of the most comfortable sandals for Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

“Supportive sandals can be comfortable for all-day wear,” says Dr. Priya Parthasarathy, a board-certified podiatrist. She adds that, while lace-up sneakers are more ideal (especially for daily wear), the right kind of sandals can be supportive and comfortable enough for wearing to theme parks, so long as they have a few important factors.
What to Look for in Comfortable Walking Sandals
The best sandals for Disneyland and Walt Disney World can vary depending on your needs and preferences. However, Dr. Parthasarathy says they should have plenty of arch support, adjustable straps, and adequate width in order for your feet to last all day strapped in them. She also says that sandals aren’t something to wear daily when doing a lot of walking. Instead, she recommends varying your shoe styles while visiting the parks so that you either aren’t spending all day in sandals or aren’t wearing sandals every day for a week.
Support: Like all shoes, sandals need to have plenty of support to withstand hours and hours of walking and standing in line. “The sandal should not be able to fold completely in half, and it should have built-in arch support,” says Dr. Parthasarathy. Surprisingly, she also recommends a little bit of a wedge (or molded footbed) over a completely flat sandal to “take some pressure off of the achilles and plantar fascia.”
Adjustable Ankle Straps: Most podiatrists, including Dr. Parthasarathy, don’t recommend wearing slides all day at Disneyland or Walt Disney World (however, there are still some super comfy options for temporary use if you prefer this style). Instead, look for styles with adjustable ankle straps. “An adjustable ankle strap will give you some stabilization and reduce the chance of sprained ankles,” she notes. “Also, a shoe with a front and back strap [adds] stability.” With this kind of stability, you won’t need to grip your feet as much, which Dr. Parthasarathy says will prevent overuse injuries.
Width: “The width of the sandal is also important to accommodate your foot and any ailments such as bunions, neuromas, and hammertoes,” says Dr. Parthasarathy. While the width can vary depending on your foot and the shoe styles, keep this in mind when trying on sandals, and opt for styles that give your soles plenty of space to spread out.
The Most Comfortable Sandals for Disneyland & Disney World
As someone who spends a lot of time in the park — and lives in Southern California — I’ve tested many sandals at Disneyland. Ahead, find my tried-and-true top picks for the most comfortable sandals for Disney.
VIVAIA Kiara AdaptAll™ Sport Sandals
The VIVAIA Kiara AdaptAll™ Sport Sandals are the comfiest sandals I own and the best for a full day of walking at Disney Parks. These feature a sporty design with an ultra-lightweight EVA sole, and the straps are made from recycled plastic water bottles for an eco-friendly touch. They also have other important features like arch support, anti-slip, and rocker sole technology, which makes for a more comfortable step. Unlike other VIVAIA designs, these sandals aren’t machine-washable, but they’re super easy to keep clean—all you have to do is scrub them with a clean cloth. On a recent trip to Disneyland, I wore these for over 10 hours, and my feet felt comfortable and supported all day long with no aches and pains.

Colors: 28
Materials: Plastic water bottles, EVA
Reef Water Vista
If you need a good pair of summer sandals for Disney World or Disneyland, the Reef Water Vista Sandals are it. These comfy sandals are constructed from a durable, rubber-like material that is supportive and completely waterproof, so you don’t have to worry about an unexpected summer storm (or getting soaked on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure) while visiting the parks. Their design makes them feel as effortless as a pair of slides, but the straps around the ankle help ensure they stay on and your feet feel comfortable while wearing them all day long.

FitSlop GEN-FF Buckle Two-Bar Leather Slides
When it comes to comfortable walking sandals, none quite compare to the FitFlop Gen-FF slides. While I don’t personally have experience wandering around Disney Parks in them, I once wore mine for 12 hours while visiting New York City, and my feet didn’t ache once. So, whether you already have a pair in your closet and are wondering what shoes to pack for Disney, or you have them on your wishlist and need an excuse to add them to your cart, these are totally worth the hype. The shoes feature an ergonomic footbed that, with time, forms to your feet for maximum comfort. They also have durable and adjustable straps that keep the foot nice and snug without the need for an ankle strap.

Materials: Microwobbleboard midsole
Teva Original Universal Slim Sandal
Teva sandals are another tried-and-true sandals style, especially if you’re traveling or planning to do a lot of walking—and you do a lot of walking at the Disney Parks. The Original Universal Slim Sandal is a slimmer version of the classic design, which I love because it boasts a little more versatility, especially if you need something you can dress up for dinners while on vacation at Walt Disney World or Disneyland. These sandals feature ultra-lightweight construction with a footbed made from recycled rubber and EVA for comfortable and supportive cushioning. The straps are also eco-friendly and made from fabric using REPREVE® polyester yarn by Unifi®, which is created from recycled plastic water bottles collected from the eastern United States.
Sizes Available: 5-12
Colors: 6
Materials: Recycled rubber, EVA, REPREVE® polyester
Reef Water Vista Higher Sandal
Platform sandals might not seem like a go-to for walking around a theme park all day, but the Reef Water Vista Higher Sandals are one of my favorites for a warm Disneyland day. These strappy sandals feature compression-molded EVA and waterproof recycled PET from plastic water bottles, so a full day of walking, summer storms, and water rides are no match. Since the sandals feature a platform footbed, they give you some extra height without making it feel like you’re wearing heeled sandals—plus they have some extra cushion for added comfort. I also love that they have a velcro ankle strap so you can customize your fit and not worry about your sandals flying off while enjoying the parks. And, like the Teva Original Universal Slim Sandal, they’re a pair you could easily dress up for your vacation dinners.
Sizes Available: 5-11
Colors: 12
Materials: EVA, Recycled PET from plastic water bottles
Crocs Mega Crush Sandal
Crocs are becoming a more and more popular Disney Parks shoe that I see all the time while visiting Disneyland and California Adventure. However, if you’re more of a sandal girly—and not afraid of a platform sole—the Crocs Mega Crush Sandals are a fun vacation option that you can wear to the parks or while enjoying the resort grounds. I love these sandals and swear they are one of the comfiest in my closet. Like the OG clogs, you can wear these as slip-ons or with the attached ankle strap for more security (I recommend the ankle strap for the parks). They’re also constructed from Crocs’ Croslite material, which is waterproof and easy to clean, making them a great option for the resort pools or walking down Main Street.
Sizes Available: 4-11
Colors: 3
Materials: Croslite, rubber
Birkenstock Honolulu Essentials
I don’t typically recommend wearing flip flops to theme parks — unless they’re the Birkenstock Honolulu Essentials. These sandals are super comfy and fully constructed from EVA, so they boast plenty of cushion and are waterproof, too. Like other Birkenstock styles, the sandals are also designed with a molded footbed that keeps your soles nice and supported all day long. In addition to the Disney Parks and resorts, these sandals would be a great addition to your Disney Cruise wardrobe.
Sizes Available: 4-12.5
Colors: 6
Materials: EVA
Reef Cross-Shore
The Reef Cross-Shore Sandals are another sporty sandal style worth considering for a trip to Walt Disney World or Disneyland. These sandals are specifically designed for walking, hiking, and traveling, so the hours spent walking and waiting in lines at Disney Parks are no match for their supportive comfort. The sandals boast a contoured EVA footbed designed for long-lasting support, have wet grip traction technology (so they’re great for those random summer storms that pop up at Disney World), and the straps are completely adjustable so you can get a more customized fit. And, despite their more practical nature, they’re actually so cute.
Sizes Available: 5-11
Colors: 4
Materials: EVA, rubber, webbing
Shade & Shore Neida EVA Two Band Footbed Slide Sandals
If you love Birkenstocks but they’re not within your budget, the Shade & Shore Neida EVA Two Band Footbed Slide Sandals are a good Birkenstock dupe option—and they’re only $10, so you could totally snag a couple of colors before leaving for your Disney vacation. These sandals are constructed from comfortable and cushioned EVA material and feature a contoured footbed and adjustable straps for long-lasting comfort. And, while they can totally keep your soles comfy for a full Disney day, their waterproof and slim design also makes them a go-to pair to slip on for water rides so you don’t end up with soaking wet sneakers.
Sizes Available: 5-12
Colors: 7
Materials: EVA
SOREL KINETIC™ Impact Y-Strap High Women’s Wedge Sandal
SOREL is one of my all-time favorite shoe brands for comfortable, practical and stylish shoes—including sandals for Disneyland. I love that the KINETIC™ Impact Y-Strap High Women’s Wedge Sandals have a more elevated sporty design that is comfortable enough for all-day wear at the Disney Parks but also chic enough for enjoying the resort amenities and dressing up for dinners in Downtown Disney. The sandals also have excellent traction and feature an adjustable ankle strap for added stability.
Sizes Available: 5-12
Colors: 4
Materials: EVA, Livelyfoam, Bloom, TPU, rubber
